The Back to School Blast, a mission of Garfield Memorial Church, is an event that serves Cleveland-area families enrolled in Medicaid or without health insurance by providing the health screenings and school supplies their children need, all for free and under one roof in a fun, family environment.

July 29, 2017 | 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM | Garfield Memorial Church, Pepper Pike Campus
The Back to School Blast will take place at the Garfield Memorial Church Pepper Pike Campus (3650 Lander Road, Pepper Pike, Ohio 44124) on July 29, 2017, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The Blast is powered by God’s grace and the generous giving of volunteers, partners, and donors, whose gifts enable 250 students grades K – 12 to receive free physical, dental, vision, and hearing screenings, backpacks and school supplies, haircuts, and books. Guests also visit our caregiver resources area and enjoy family entertainment, food, and fun during “HERO ZONE” in the Family Life Center.

Pastor Terry’s thoughts on Blast 2016
“The Back to School Blast is an event designed to “take care of the kids from the inside out." John’s gospel begins: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1, 14) At the Blast, I have seen the Word become backpacks … and haircuts … and smiles … and hugs … and books … and most of all, I saw the love of Christ communicated in simple, tangible ways that made an eternal difference.”
